I read somewhere, that the both (engine and head) are intended for a compression ratio 6,7 (ei. for 76 octane petrol). I do not know, if the head has been modified for high octane petrol, but I suppose no.
So, what is my questions: If the head has been no modified yet, is it really intended for 76 oct. petrol? What type of spark plugs should I use for this head? If I want to use 95 oct. petrol, is the height, which I need to remove, 3,5 mm? And can I use the same spark plugs after modifiing?
Of course, before cutting the head, I want to ask service station for measuring the compression ration.

You have a cylinder head from Volga GAZ-24. To make it normal to drive on 95 gasoline, you need to cut it from the bottom so that its height is 93.5 - 94 mm. Make 94, it will be normal, there will be a little space if you ever need to grind.

Everything is simple, the height of the head should be 94 millimeters, this is for 93 gasoline, it is well suited for gasoline 95.

A spark plug can be BRISK L15Y or close to them of any other company, if the Soviet A-17, will be normal for 95 gasoline and a head height of 94 millimeters.

Just do not forget, if you cut the head, then you need to shorten the valve tappet all 8 pieces. You remove the steel cap, cut the barbell, usually 3 millimeters are enough, and you put on the cap. Otherwise you will not be able to adjust the valve.
